Conditions We Treat

Here are the conditions we treat at Hanson Chiropractic Center, from everyday back and neck pain to sore joints, headaches, and care for athletes, new moms, and kids. Each one has its own page with what it feels like, what usually causes it, how we help, and answers to the questions people ask us most. If you don't see what's bothering you, give us a call. We're happy to tell you whether we're a good fit.

What does a chiropractor treat?

Most people know chiropractors work on backs and necks. Fewer know we also treat shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and feet, along with the muscles and tendons around them. Our work centers on how your joints and muscles move, and on easing the pain and stiffness that come when they don't move well. Spinal manipulation is one of the non-drug options the American College of Physicians recommends for low back pain.

Back, neck, and head

Lower back pain and sciatica. A sore back, or pain that runs down one leg. Our most common reason for a first visit.

Neck pain and stiffness. A neck that won't turn, a crick that won't quit, or tingling down your arm.

Headaches and migraines. Tension and neck headaches, plus help with the neck and shoulder tightness that often comes with migraines.

Scoliosis. Help with the back pain and stiffness of a curved spine, for kids and adults.

Joint pain

Start with our joint pain page if you're not sure which joint is the real problem. Then go deeper:

Shoulder pain when you reach, lift, or sleep on that side. Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow when gripping hurts. Carpal tunnel and wrist pain when your fingers tingle or go numb. Knee and hip pain on stairs or walks. And plantar fasciitis when your first steps in the morning hurt.

Care for athletes, new moms, and kids

Athletes. Sports chiropractic for football, volleyball, lifting, and weekend sports, with dedicated pages for wrestlers and golfers.

New moms. Help with the back, neck, and wrist aches of feeding and carrying a new baby.

Babies and kids. Gentle, fingertip-light care for newborns, infants, and growing kids.

What happens at your first visit

Whichever of the conditions we treat brings you in, your first visit starts the same way. We listen first. You'll tell us what hurts, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you've already tried. Then we do a hands-on exam to check how you move, test strength and reflexes where they matter, and take digital x-rays only if we need them.

Before you leave, we walk you through what we found and what we recommend, in plain language. You'll know what to expect and why. Save time by filling out your new patient paperwork before you come in, and if you'd like to see who you'll be working with, meet our team.

When to see a doctor first

Some symptoms need medical care before chiropractic care. Go to the ER or call 911 for chest pain, trouble breathing, sudden weakness or numbness on one side of your body, trouble speaking, or the worst headache of your life. Back pain with numbness in your groin or trouble controlling your bladder needs the ER right away. So does any injury where a bone looks out of place or you can't put weight on a leg. Each condition page lists the warning signs that matter most for that problem.

Questions about the conditions we treat

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. You can call us and book your first visit directly.

What if my condition isn't listed?

Call us anyway. If it involves your joints, muscles, or spine, there's a good chance we can help. If it's something that needs a different kind of care, we'll tell you and point you in the right direction.

Do adjustments hurt?

Most people feel little or nothing. We use gentle methods with no quick twisting or loud popping, and you can always ask us to change or skip something.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what's going on and how long you've had it. Something that started last week usually settles faster than pain you've lived with for a year. We'll give you a straight answer after your exam.

Do you see kids?

Yes. We see newborns, toddlers, kids, and teens. Read more on our pediatric chiropractor page.

Not sure where to start? Call us.

Call us and we'll find a time that works. We see patients from all over Edmond, north Oklahoma City, Deer Creek, and the towns around them.
