Chiropractic for Lifelong Wellness

Your central nervous system is your body’s information highway. It connects your brain, spine, and organs, carrying signals that support healing and everyday function throughout the body. Understanding your body and improving your health naturally starts with chiropractic care. When the spine is misaligned, it can interfere with how those signals travel, which may contribute to pain and reduced function in some patients. Chiropractors work to find and address the underlying cause of these issues, not just the symptoms, as part of a broader approach to your health.

What a Chiropractic Adjustment Actually Does

A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, precise pressure applied to a joint in the spine. The goal is to restore normal movement to a joint that has lost it, often called a subluxation. When a joint isn’t moving the way it should, nearby muscles tighten to compensate, and the nerves that pass through that area can become irritated. Restoring proper motion to the joint takes pressure off those structures.

At Hanson Chiropractic Center, Dr. Hanson and Dr. McGinn use low-force, instrument-assisted techniques rather than the higher-velocity manual adjustments many people picture when they think of chiropractic care. Some patients respond well to traditional manual adjustments. Others prefer a gentler approach, especially if they’re new to chiropractic care or have a condition that makes manual adjustment less appropriate. Your first visit includes an evaluation to determine which approach fits your situation.

What to Expect From Your First Visit

Your first visit starts with a conversation about your health history and what brought you in, often followed by a physical exam focused on your spine, posture, and range of motion. We may recommend X-rays to get a clearer picture of your spinal alignment before starting any treatment. If so, we’ll review those xrays with you to provide a treatment plan specific to your situation. Some patients need a short course of care to resolve a recent issue. Others, particularly those managing a chronic condition, benefit from ongoing maintenance visits spaced out over months or years. There’s no one-size-fits-all schedule, and we’ll talk through what makes sense for you before you commit to anything.

Chiropractic Care as Part of Your Overall Health

Chiropractic care works well on its own for many spine and joint issues, and it works well alongside care from your primary doctor, physical therapist, or other specialists. We see our role as one part of a larger picture. If something you’re dealing with falls outside what chiropractic care addresses, we’ll tell you directly and point you toward the right kind of help.

If you’re curious whether chiropractic care fits what you’re experiencing, the Conditions We Treat page covers specific issues we see often in our Edmond practice, from back pain and headaches to digestive concerns and infant colic. You’re also welcome to call our office directly and ask. Individual results vary by condition and by patient, and we’ll always give you a straightforward answer about whether we think we can help.
